Introduction
This Diya granny square pattern starts with a diya motif in the center and continues with a traditional granny square.
Materials
- Cotton DK yarn in main brown, yellow for the diya motif, and off-white for the granny square border
- 4 mm crochet hook
- Yarn needle

Pattern
Round 1
With brown color make mc, ch3, 10dc, attach yellow color ch1, 3dc, ch1 sp st into first ch3, cut the brown yarn but keep yellow for next round.
Round 2
With white color, ch3, 2dc in ch space, 3dc in 4th st, [3dc, ch1, 3dc] in 8th st, [3dc, ch1, 3dc] in ch space, now pick up yellow color from the back in 11th and 12th st make a sp st with white color, you can cut yellow thread now, [3dc, ch1] in next ch space and close the round with sp st in first ch3.
Round 3
[ch3, 2dc, ch1, 3dc] in ch space, [3dc in next space, [3dc, ch1, 3dc] in corner]* repeat till end, sp st in first ch3.
Finishing tips
Sew in the yarn tails in the back of the square.
